Wum

Wum is a small town located in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. It is situated about 250 kilometers (155 miles) northwest of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, and has a population of around 10,000 people.

Wum is known for its picturesque scenery and peaceful atmosphere, making it a great destination for those looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The town is situated at the foot of the Wum mountain, an ancient volcano, which is an important cultural and religious site for the local people. The economy of Wum is based mainly on agriculture, with a focus on crops such as bananas, plantains, and cassava. The town is also home to several small-scale industries such as soap and shea butter production, as well as an increasing number of small scale businesses related to tourism, such as hotels and tour operators.

Wum is also home to a rich cultural heritage, with many traditional festivals and events taking place throughout the year. One of the most popular is the “Fête des Arts et des Métiers” which is celebrated annually in September and features traditional music, dance and local crafts.

The local cuisine is based mainly on root vegetables, and staple food is plantain with “Kwacoco” being a popular local dish made from cassava. Visitors can also try other traditional dishes such as “Eru” which is a vegetable soup made from spinach, and “Ndole” a popular dish made with bitter leaves and peanuts.
