Ararat

Ararat is a small town located in the county of Ararat in central Armenia. It is situated on the Ararat plain, at the foot of Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in the country.

One of the main attractions of Ararat is the ancient fortress, which dates back to the 4th century BC. The fortress was built by the Armenian king Artashes I and is a well-preserved example of early Armenian military architecture. Visitors can explore the fortress grounds and learn about the history of the region.

In addition to its cultural attractions, Ararat is also known for its natural beauty. The town is surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and farmland, and it is a popular destination for hiking and outdoor activities. The nearby Ararat reservoir is a popular spot for picnics and swimming in the summer months.

Despite its small size, Ararat has a lot to offer to visitors. From its ancient fortress and ethnographic museum, to its natural beauty and outdoor activities, there is something for everyone in this charming Armenian town.
