Nkoteng

Nkoteng is a small town located in the Centre Region of Cameroon. It is situated about 150 kilometers (93 miles) southeast of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, and has a population of around 20,000 people.

Nkoteng is known for its rich cultural heritage, particularly the art of basket weaving, which is a traditional craft practiced by many of the town’s inhabitants. Visitors can see traditional dances, music, and local crafts at the “Fête des Arts et des Métiers” held annually showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the area.

The economy of Nkoteng is based mainly on agriculture, with a focus on crops such as plantain, banana and yam. The town is also known for its craftsmanship, particularly basket weaving and pottery, many of the local artisans have been able to sell their products in the local market as well as the surrounding cities, contributing to the local economy.

Nkoteng is also known for its natural beauty, with many parks and protected areas such as the “Mount Cameroon” which is a popular destination for hiking and trekking, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and it’s a great spot to take a panoramic view of the town and surroundings.

The local cuisine is based mainly on root vegetables and staple food is “kwacoco” a popular local dish made from cassava, and “Fufu” which is a type of porridge made from yams or plantains. Visitors
